Learn more

Heimishe means from our own. It is the word families use when they want help that comes from the community rather than being sent in from outside it — people who understand the way the meal is served, when the room fills up, and what is expected of a guest who walks in without an invitation.

About this event

Our crews are drawn from the Lakewood community and the surrounding towns, and they work in the way this community hosts. That is not a marketing line: it changes the practical details. They know how a simcha dinner is served, they know when to clear a table and when to leave it, and they know that a guest arriving late is normal rather than an exception.

For a family whose own relatives are already stretched across the meal, the service, the driving and the cleanup, adding a crew that has to be instructed from scratch is an extra job. A heimishe crew is not.

What we provide on site

We provide waiters, kitchen help, bartenders and, where a family wants it, a mashgiach — with the same Shomer Shabbos standards we apply everywhere. The difference is the familiarity: our crews understand the pace of a Lakewood simcha without having it explained.

They also understand the kitchen. A heimishe crew knows how to work within a family menu, how to cook the way a family cooks, and how to keep a kitchen kosher when the family is right there watching.

  • Crews from the Lakewood community and the surrounding towns
  • Waiters, kitchen help and bartenders with no training-up needed
  • Shomer Shabbos standards and KCL supervision as standard
  • A mashgiach available on request for the event

How it works with your caterer

Many heimishe families have a caterer they have used for years, and that relationship is part of what makes the food right. We work with that caterer, take the service side of the event, and brief our crew on their menu and their way of working.

If your family cooks, our kitchen help works in your kitchen, to your recipes, and leaves the way they found it.

Pricing notes

Heimishe event staffing is quoted per event, per hour or as a package, with the same structure as our other service pages. The quote reflects the crew size and the hours on site.

For families hosting a whole series of events, a package across the run is usually the simplest way to budget and to keep the same crew.

FAQ

What does heimishe event staff mean?

It means the crew comes from the community it serves. Our staff live in Lakewood and the surrounding towns and host their own simchas, so they understand the pace of an event here, how the meal is served and what a guest expects without being told. The practical result is that they need far less briefing than an outside crew.

Are your heimishe staff Shomer Shabbos and kosher supervised?

Yes. Where a crew comes from does not change the standard it works to. All of our staff are Shomer Shabbos and work under the supervision of the Kashrus Council of Lakewood.

Can your staff work with our family caterer?

Yes, and it is the usual arrangement. We coordinate with your caterer before the event, brief our crew on their menu and service method, and take responsibility for the service side so your caterer can stay in the kitchen.

How far in advance do we need to book heimishe staff?

Three to four weeks is normal for most events and six to eight weeks in the busy season, or if the date is a Shabbos. Because our crews are local, we can often fill a gap later than we could with a travelling team.

Ready to book?

Send us the date, the venue, the guest count and the hours. We will come back with the crew that fits this event and a quote itemised by role and by hour.
