Shabbat Dinner Staffing in Lakewood NJ
Learn more
Shabbat dinner is the hardest meal of the week to host because it cannot be cooked while it is being served. Families tell us they want to sit at the table with their guests, not start the cholent at noon and check the fire at every Seudah. We staff the Shabbat dinner so the meal can be ready before Shabbos starts.
About this event
The core problem with hosting a Shabbat dinner is timing. A slow-cooked dish like cholent is started before Shabbos, a blech keeps food hot without cooking, and the last-minute tasks all land in the same short window before candle-lighting. Families are left choosing between hosting and being present.
Our Shabbat dinner crews take those tasks. Preparation happens before Shabbos, the room is set before the candles are lit, and the family sits down to a meal that is ready when their guests arrive.

Our staffing for this event
Every crew we send for a Shabbat dinner is Shomer Shabbos. They do not light a fire, operate a burner, or handle any other prohibited activity during Shabbos, and they do not drive on Shabbos. If your dinner runs into the night, the crew works as long as their own Shabbos observance allows.
For a dinner hosted at home, our kitchen help prepares the food with you beforehand and the waiters serve the meal. For a dinner at a venue, the crew covers the setup before Shabbos and the service once the meal is served.
- Kitchen help for the prep before Shabbos, including slow-cooked dishes
- Waiters for the table once the meal is ready
- Bartenders for a Shabbos dinner with drinks service
- Setup and breakdown for a Shabbat dinner held at a venue
Pricing notes
Shabbat dinner staffing is quoted per event and per hour. Because the work is split between a preparation window before Shabbos and the service afterwards, the quote shows both parts so you can see how the evening is covered.
When a mashgiach is needed for the venue, the supervision is quoted as a separate line item.
Sample menus and roles
Shabbat dinner menus are usually built around dishes that are finished before Shabbos and held hot with a blech, with fish, cholent, potatoes and salad typical of an Ashkenazi table. Our kitchen help is briefed on which dishes are already complete so nothing needs cooking once Shabbos has started.
Our waiters are Shomer Shabbos and familiar with a table that is served from a kitchen on the other side of a room. They also know that the meal is served in courses, slowly, with the family at the table.

FAQ
How can staff help with a Shabbat dinner without violating Shabbos?
All of the cooking, prep and setup happens before Shabbos begins. On the day itself our staff serve the meal, clear the table and handle the room without lighting a fire, switching on a burner or driving. If the dinner runs late, the crew finishes within what their own Shabbos observance allows.
What does Shabbat dinner staffing include?
It usually includes kitchen help for the preparation before Shabbos, waiters for the meal itself, and bartenders if there is a drinks service. At a venue we also cover the setup and the breakdown. Send us the menu, the guest count and the hours and we will quote the crew that fits.
Can you staff a Shabbat dinner only, with no cooking?
Yes. Some families cook the meal themselves with help from their own relatives and only need service on the night. Tell us whether you want preparation included or service only and we will price it accordingly.
How far in advance do we need to book Shabbat dinner help?
Four to six weeks is typical and we recommend more in the summer months and around the holidays. Shomer Shabbos crews are in demand for Friday evenings, so the earlier we can hold the date the better.
Ready to book?
Send us the date, the venue, the guest count and the hours. We will come back with the crew that fits this event and a quote itemised by role and by hour.
